When does the College consult the public?

The College engages in a range of public consultation activities prior to implementing or making changes to important aspects of registered nursing regulation, including, but not limited to:

  • Practice Expectations,
  • Policies,
  • Regulations, and
  • Practice Directions

The College seeks the input of registrants, the public, and other interest holders including government, Manitoba’s other regulated health professions, employers, nursing educators, and other affected parties as applicable to the changes or new measures under consideration. A diverse range of input helps strengthen the College’s overall ability to protect and serve the public interest through quality registered nursing regulation.

Criteria for Reserved Acts Requiring Additional Education

The College is seeking consultation on the practice direction, Criteria for Reserved Acts Requiring Additional Education. It has been reviewed and updated for clarity and to ensure relevance to practice.

The College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba General Regulation identifies which reserved acts require additional education before a registrant may perform that reserved act. The focus of the additional education is to support safe, competent, client-centered practice. This practice direction communicates the criteria required for additional education.
